chemex
coffee

i'm back on this blog after 2 years and some change! LOL man so many things have changed in the world of webdev, and i've finally updated my personal site to fetch content from my sanity.io cms instead of .md files in my repo.
anyway, i've been really getting into coffee as one of my latest hobbies. for the longest time, i've been using Zavida Hazelnut Coffee beans, grinding it with a Black and Decker Coffee/Spice grinder, and using a KICHLY 34oz stainless steel french press. but over the years, i've started to really dislike the taste of the sediment that gets piled up at the bottom of my mug.
i didn't really feel like dropping the money to buy a whole chemex, the filters, and all the things that are involved in making quality pourovers. however, i received a $150 pre-paid mastercard from my church for my ~20 years of helping out 😠i decided to use this money to buy some new gear!
one of the local cafes near our place was selling chemex's and filters, so i decided to spend some hard earned pre-paid guap on a new coffee setup 😛 i got the 6 cup chemex classic, some hario v60-01 filters, a new scale with a timer, and a COSORI electric gooseneck kettle!
i've really been enjoying my new coffee setup 😄 there's been no sediment in my cups of coffee these days 🙌 my brews have been much more clean and light, but i do feel like it took away from the natural taste of the hazelnut beans 🤔 i've also been hearing that your grinder is a huge game changer for the way your coffee brews, so i'm currently looking into manual grinders like the K6 KINGrinder and 1Zpresso K-ultra grinder -- but it just feels like the price point isn't really worth it 🤔
i'll play it by ear 😛
ps. i'll also be starting a toronto cafe blog series! not sure how my "rubric" will look like, but it'll probably include coffee quality, ambience/vibe, and price 😄
